I believe ascalons bows can be any number of those bows. As far as I know, there is a short and long bow version of the ascalon bow.
EDIT: and i believe a stormbow is a hornbow (not to sure on this one) |

Since I really want a Shortbow/Halfmoon with the 15%>50 modifier on it, but if the Ascalon could be the same as a Shortbow, I would just get the collector's Ascalon Bow. |

that table is wrong. flatbows have longer range (though maybe not by far) than longbows.
i prefer Flatbows to anything. currently i'm using 2 bows, one is a max damage flatbow of fortitude, the other is a max damage Ascalon Bow (Longbow) 15%>50. i use the flatbow a lot more often because of the range + refire rate. and ascalon bows come in multiple varieties. i believe there's recurve, horn, short, long, and flat. you'd have to research which collector gives you which one. as far as storm bows go, i have no idea. |

Flatbows don't have a longer range than a Longbow. By my experience, they have the same range.

Flatbows and longbows have the same range. The only thing that differs from them is the firing arc. Flatbows have a very high arc. Personally, I always carry at least 3 bows. One short or moon, and one long or flat. The right tool for the right job.

I stopped using Flatbows because of that high arc, if an enemy moves half an inch while the arrow is firing, he'll have "Dodged" by the time it gets there. They are good long range bows if your enemy isn't running around like a chicken without a head, but they aren't suited for all your long ranged needs

And you can get the longbow version of the ascalon bow from the collector outside of augry rock. There is also a shortbow version that can be found in mineral springs from the mountain troll tusks collector. The bows will look the same, but upon further testing, will appear to be short and long bows. |
